Title
Transboundary Aquifers of the World map
Abstract

The global map of transboundary aquifers (TBAs) shows the surface delineation of aquifers extending over country borders. Such information is necessary to develop appropriate cooperation mechanisms for the management of shared groundwater resources. Yet, it is challenging to map transboundary aquifers due to the invisible nature of groundwater. The current version of the map (2021 edition) is in fact the result of over 20 years of efforts, including regional and global initiatives and projects led by a variety of partners. The main edits brought to the successive editions of the global map of TBAs can be visualized in this viewer.
